mon The current region selector is just alphabetical: A nice-to-have would be to display the most common regions first, as some ecommerce sites tend to do:
Nankeru I'd go even one step further, show on top the country you are located in, then show relevant countries to your location and then other "popular" ones.
carl To me the region selector is completely fine as it is. I can see you haven't used it, because it will pin the different regions you have used already to the top of the list for easy access. And you can just type any region in the text box and it will instantly filter for you. No need for scrolling.
mon carl Ah, interesting! My main use for the selector is going to International and then back to Australia if I don't find what I want. Since your default region isn't pinned, I assumed none were.
Vlad mon Some users may be concerned seeing Kagi knows in what region they are. Yes we do (through public IP address) but it is also hard to explain.
mon Vlad That's quite understandable for a privacy focused engine. Considering the region-pinning behaviour that carl's made me aware of, maybe this request can just be "Pin the region you chose in Settings, as well as any recents"
Vlad mon Hm the region you selected is already pinned to the top? Can you provide some screenshots? My bad it seems it is not, but since it is already selected, what is the purpose of having it pinned on the top?
mon Vlad The (rare, I imagine) case of moving a search to International but then wanting to return to my default region. The back button is probably a better option here 😅
warpspin This seems to work by now, that previously regions are pinned to the top. I can easily switch between International and my local region.
