Sometimes when I don't find desired results I wonder if a website might have been hidden because I blocked or lowered it. Or maybe I normally want to block Reddit for example, but sometimes they have the only answer to a specific search.

It also would be nice to see how my personalizations affect results for fine tuning.

This could be done by a lense to toggle on and off the personalizations. Maybe it could be a default option, so the feature is less hidden. I would be happy even if it was just an option when creating a new custom lense.

When a domain is blocked in Kagi search, it's impossible to see results from that domain, as expected. However, if I specify site:example.com in the search, I also get no search results even though I've explicitly indicated I wanted results from that domain; I'd like to be able to search for specific results even in domains I don't like when I explicitly restrict my search to that domain.

(optionally: show an infobox mentioning that the domain was blocked, and offer the option to unblock the domain.)

ctgPi I guess we could add a notification but how often is this to happen in reality? There is probably a good reason domain was blocked, then later to explicitly search in it?

ctgPi For sites I don't much care for but still refer to on occasion, I'll "Lower" rather than "Block". In my experience, this is often similar to a Block but with the helpful side-effect that results from Lowered domains only might find their way to the top of surfaced results if you're not coming back with much from other (presumably better) sources. You can still use "site:" operator, too. Blocked sites are ones I make no exception for: they should never be shown, even if I'm coming up with no hits from other sources.

I have Facebook (and other big names) blocked on principle, but sometimes businesses or other entities can only be found on Facebook.

It would be nice to be able to communicate "I know I have FB blocked, but in this case I want FB results for one query", and I think site: would be a fine way to do so.

The suggestion of Lower is good though, I agree with that in the general case.

z64 When you frame it that way, enabling certain operators to override personalization and lenses does seem a good idea. OP has a good suggestion.

What about a simple lens that is just completely unfiltered. I generally like my tailored domain block list, but occasionally I want to override it with a broad search. It would be ideal to have a lens that is completely unfiltered.

I think it is well past time to be able to quickly untoggle the block operator..

I hate pinterest, but when the image search is not delivering, I want to toggle it on, without having to go intoi the setting, set pinterest to normal and then revert it again.

I think this greatly adds to Kagi's QoL and usability. It is a standout feature, make it smooth and nice to work with.

If this is misplaced here, I can comment on the original post with more details as well.

I agree that showing blocked notification is useful. Paired with https://kagifeedback.org/d/1705-personalization-filter-toggle users should be able to quickly solve this. Will merge with above as it solved the same problem.
