Manging 12x $5 receipts is 12 times more work than 1 x $60 receipt, and presumably a single transaction costs Kagi less in bank fees and helps with cashflow sooner. I don't want to pay for the $25 x 12 x 0.85 = $255 plan. But claiming 12 small receipts as a business expense is a huge hassle. I don't care if there's a discount or not on the lower tiers. Even quarterly billing would be a third of the fiddliness of monthly.

Also consider allowing 6 or 12 month subs as gifts. I'd gladly gift Kagi to people. Gifts encourage use and talk, which gets the platform the attention it appears to deserve.

cheese The reason we do not have annual payment on metered plans, is that we do not know how to handle potential pay per use costs.

This is why annual option is available on Ultimate plan only. Open to suggestions.

So don't do it. Pay with your personal card and don't claim it as a business expense. $5 doesn't make any difference for your business.

cheese I'm sorry if you took offense in my tone. What I meant is that sometimes it is too easy to get caught up in the small details that don't matter so much, and that these things are usually easier to work around. I've had to do just that many times myself. But you're not looking for my opinion, so I'll leave here.

That makes sense, thanks for the clarificiation. Some suggestions:

Opt in limits (i.e access stops if you use your allotment that month, if you choose that path)
The ability to buy credit
Monthly use based billing for excess use but an annual/quarterly subscription (i.e you buy several months, but the system otherwise works as it currently does)

Although to be clear, the current system isn't a deal breaker, I just prefer longer billing periods, and am trying to make a business case for getting Kagi in these difficult times.

cheese All these would add more complexity to the (already complex) billing system and we'd rather spend time and our limited resources to make search better. I hope you can appreciate that.

Marking as Done since we now have yearly payment option for all plans. We didn't add a 6 month option to not make billing overly complicated.
