[Discuss Document] Ability to discuss a document at a user-provided URL

I wanted to discuss the document here: https://github.com/ankitects/anki/blob/9edac805adfe285cc92ed04dfeeffc1d1813c4d0/rslib/backend.proto

However, when I searched Kagi, this page did not show up, so I tried to access it by directly typing in this link:

https://kagi.com/discussdoc?q=https://github.com/ankitects/anki/blob/9edac805adfe285cc92ed04dfeeffc1d1813c4d0/rslib/backend.proto

This doesn't work, telling me 'Sorry, I can't answer that right now.'

It would be nice to discuss a document by pasting it in directly to some webpage like https://kagi.com/summarizer, except it would be something like https://kagi.com/discussdoc

Hi keyes ,

As a quick tip, this already works as a bang that you can add yourself. You can input it like this:

Or paste the following text into the "Search engine name" box:

Discuss Doc
https://kagi.com/discussdoc?url=%s
!discuss

and it will auto-fill for you.

The reason your original example doesn't work, is because the URL is not properly encoded. The bang should take care of that for you.

The "ee" thing is a graphical bug, and we will fix this. We can also add this as an official bang, and explore other ways to open the chat without using a result or bang, that will prompt the user for a URL.

Maybe something like this?

After the user provides a URL, the prompt responds with the snippet and "Is this the document you were looking to discuss?" With a Yes / No prompt.

As for discoverability, you could put this next to Universal Summarizer on the bottom bar, and perhaps provide a shortcut like !discuss for Bang users.

I tried this with and without URL Encode Query enabled in the Bang settings, but it gives me the same result.

keyes That URL looks like you did !discuss https://kagi.com/....? Or perhaps the bang is misconfigured

Please try the following in your URL bar / confirm this is what you tried:

!discuss https://github.com/ankitects/anki/blob/9edac805adfe285cc92ed04dfeeffc1d1813c4d0/rslib/backend.proto

If that doesn't work, can you show how you set up the bang, just to double check its set correctly?
