I would like to think that the whole situation will auto-correct itself. The number of Assistant Threads in the live stats has been steadily decreasing for months, while the number of members and queries keeps rising. I have no illusion that Kagi will be able to outcompete the big guys on the AI stuff, there is simply no way, especially when the token prices inevitably go up. And privacy is not a magic word here, since others will do it better.
People come here for the search. People are paying for the search. Everytime google pushes more toward AI there is an influx of new Kagi members. The ones who really want to use AI are either already running their own or paying for much more capable services.
Either Kagi realizes this in time or they will be replaced by something like the above-mentioned Uruky, which is clearly trying to capitalize on Kagi's missteps and attempting to capture Kagi's audience, that is people who simply want a good search engine and are willing to pay for it.
P.S. Yeah, and neither do we need Kagi to do email. There is a ton of perfectly good private options. Please, pretty please, focus on the search.
