From the outset, this feature request relates to #9994 (Option to search in multiple languages), but is specifically about Kagi Assistant rather than Kagi Search.
One of the biggest barriers in accessing information online is language. It is the ability to access content/information in languages other than those one can read/write. LLMs are a great tool to bypass these informational language barriers with ease, so it would be great to see the Quick, Research, and (currently) Research (Experimental) models capitalise on Kagi Translate's experience to offer Assistant users the ability to customise the languages the Assistant searches in, processes, and outputs in translated form.
For example, if I was wanting to learn about the operation of civil property law in Spain as an English speaker, I am inherently limited in what I can learn and find out about it. Most scholarship, legal judgements, and case studies will be in Spanish. But if I were able to ask Research (Experimental) — my currently preferred tuned model — to conduct concurrent searches in English and Spanish, and then translate takeaways from the Spanish content, I could bypass this barrier.
As I discussed in my Kagi Search-related feature request for this kind of functionality, having the ability to do this would really set Kagi apart from competitor products. And implementation for the Assistant would be easier (in my mind) than it would be for Kagi Search. One can already ask a model to conduct searches in different languages — this would just be a UI that enables this functionality, and something that can be plugged into any model on offer, not just Kagi's tuned ones.
UI-wise, I would envision the enabling of specifying search languages to sit alongside the Web Search drop-down menu, as below.
