In the EU, Kagi Translate can act as the default translation provider for the entire system. When selected, the interface that pops up when selecting "translate" is unfortunately quite bare at the moment, providing only language selection and the ability to replace the selected text with the translation. I would like to see this menu expanded somewhat to make it more useful for on-the-fly translations.
Some features that could be included are:
- Copy translation to clipboard (mirroring Apple's translate app).
- Select between "fast" and "best" translation models.
- Read the translation inline from the popup (as Apple's translation app popup does).
The best example of more features in the popup is probably Apple's native translation app, which provides the ability to copy the translation, favourite it, and open it in the translation app in addition to replacing text with the translation.
