Images on macOS Safari not opening

I just updated to macOS 26.4 public beta 1 (25E5207k), Safari version 26.4 (21624.1.11.11.3). I have changed no settings from before to after. When I do an image search, I cannot click on an image. In other words, it doesn't open in any way. It's like a static page of images.

Image search works on iOS (same recent public beta), and it also works on desktop if I set the user agent to iOS. The only "deep" setting I have ever adjusted is the feature flag "Verify window.open user gesture," but ONLY on iOS, not macOS.

I have turned off all extensions, content blockers, etc. It did not help.

The picture should open up to the old screen, offering to further open the image or visit the website of the image.

Nice catch! Looks like a regression in WebKit.

Same happening to me iPadOS 26.4.

Viewing images works as expected on Safari TP Release 238 (WebKit 21625.1.7.19.2) → the fix for this should come with the next WebKit version bump for your $OS. The Search team might have a fix for this in the meantime.

Thank you! This prompted me to update to the newest Beta, and Safari on this version (21624.1.13.11.3) works as well. A goofy bug, glad it seems to be gone :-)
