I noticed Kagi Maps seems to refine searches if you search for the same thing multiple times, but the initial search for me at least (just typing the name without pressing Enter), often has trouble finding what I'm looking for (searching Hungarian places).
Example that just happened is I looked up "Aranyhíd főzelék bár". On Google Maps, it instantly finds the correct place, listed as "Aranyhíd Étterem Pub".
Kagi Maps does something weird though. If I search for "Aranyhíd főzelék bár", first the only result is one similarly named but totally incorrect street in Budapest.
If I then press enter, it seems to do a more thorough search and then finds the correct place as well. So I think what is happening is that it does a quick search, and then refines it if you search again.
The main problem is, I only just noticed now that if I actively press enter, instead of just let it auto search, that it can do a better search. Until I came to write this, I just assumed the search couldn't find a lot of places, because it didn't occur to me to press enter, when search results were automatically appearing anyway. I only noticed it because I wanted to try to replicate the error before writing this.
So it's find of a UI and kind of a search issue, as you think Maps did a proper search, and sometimes just typing in what you want gets the result immediately (if it is spelled exactly the same). But there's no indication that pressing enter will give a better search result.
