In Kagi Assistant, imagine selecting one AI model as your default quick-answer model and a second as your default advanced model. Then, when having written a prompt, you have two Submit buttons to choose from, one for each of your selected models, depending on the complexity of the query.
Changing models in the dropdown menu adds slightly too much friction to do it frequently. Adding a second button for quick access to a quick model should increase the use of low-powered models.
I primarily use the assistant for heavy queries and so keep a very advanced model selected but I also sometimes have more simple questions for which the advanced model is overkill. But changing models in the pulldown menu (knowing I’ll have to change it right back) is just cumbersome enough that I rarely do it so I end up wasting energy, time, and credits using the overpowered model for simple tasks.
I would love to have quicker access to low-powered models for simple tasks by having a separate “Quick Answer” button always available in the Assistant to trigger the use of a pre-selected, low-power model for the sake of saving time, energy, and credits.
