i like the video widget. i like that when im searching for something, for say example, "how to use cron", that kagi seems able to tell that there are relevant videos i might find helpful, and injects those. i thus can view video alongside my text results. and i can scroll if i want to see more! very efficient.
however, in my quest for a better internet experience, ive decided to keep away from youtube. in the past, ive been happy to use kagi to search youtube as its a far superior experience, and that hasnt changed. im just finally ready to cut youtube out of my life completely. and im very gracious that the video search page has source filters! so kagi has made this easier. but....
when i search on the main kagi page, it is youtube vids that frequently show up in the video widget. and its made the widget useless, because i cannot control the sources. i understand that youtube may have by far the largest and most easily accessible video pool for search engines. but id rather take no videos showing up in the widget for most searches than what i have now.
because i know many users of kagi are like-minded, i submit this as a request. no matter where in the settings this is put, a checklist of sources allowed for the video widget (and perhaps more sections for more widgets) would be useful, giving more power to users. not just to get the results they want, but to aid people who want to stay away from more than just google's search. cause from my perspective, whats the use of being shown a video result that as soon as i click, i will be put into the domain of a platform that will do unholy things to grab my attention and keep me from being productive? maybe others are resistant, but i am not; these companies have learned too much about me.
