My family loves the companions and now that they are available for kids' accounts too, they all selected their favourite one. However, compared to myself, their main use is on mobile and companions don't seem to work in the mobile app.
I know, not the most important feature of all time, but I imagine it's not that hard to implement either. If the app can show the settings to select a companion, it should as well show the companion.
All of my family uses Android phones, so I can only speak for the android app. But it's not at all satisfying to select a new Kagi companion in the app and then you need to open a browser and navigate to the Kagi home page to see it in action instead of it simply replacing standard Doggo in the app.
