Missing Direct Shortcuts for Assistant and Translate on Android Home Screen

The Kagi Android app currently lacks direct shortcuts for the Assistant and Translate features. These shortcuts, if available, would allow users to place them on their home screen for quick, one-tap access to these frequently used tools. This omission reduces convenience and efficiency for users who rely on these features.

Users should be able to long-press the Kagi app icon on their Android home screen and select Assistant or Translate as direct shortcuts.
These shortcuts should open the respective feature directly, bypassing the need to navigate through the app.

I had a really handy shortcut (just looks like an app) on my Android home screen to go straight to Kagi Assistant. It suddenly disappeared, and now I can't add it back because the only shortcut offered is 'Privacy Pass'.

Please restore the Assistant shortcut. Understand it may have been removed because a dedicated Assistant app is planned, but let us at least have that back until the app is released?

After the latest Android update, my ai shortcut no longer works. Was the shortcut for the assistant removed? If so, why?

When I look at the shortcuts available to kagi now, assistant is no longer there. I want to be able to get to the assistant with a single click.

either try to log out / log in. If that doesn't work, reinstalling the app seems to fix this.
We're trying to fix this in a future update, but it's just because of the transition from the legacy app to this new app

Reinstalling + login made it work for me as well.

I had previously set up shortcuts in the app (by holding down on the homescreen icon) to open specific functions, like Assistant or Translate. They were all removed and existing instances were broken.

I expected to be able to navigate directly to specific functions.

This is a known issue that we're trying to fix. For some people logging out of the app and logging back and seems to work but for some they have to reinstall the entire app.
