This is a feature by google, the link map.google.com and maps.google.com redirect to google.com/maps, which pretty nice as it stays the same format as something like drive.google.com.
I think Kagi should make the design similar to this so that a lot more user switching from Google services to Kagi will find it easier to navigate. I am personally getting used to typing service name before the domain.
