Kagi offers videos from YouTube as results for most searches. Invariably these videos are of low quality and in many cases, are old. The video results are next to useless and actually waste my time while I learn that the results are poor or simply junk/clickbait. This disincentivizes me from continuing my Kagi subscription.
In a recent search for "is there any way to speed up download of ios update" there were four videos presented: one had 0 likes (because they were clickbait and low quality), one was 12 years old, another 7 yrs and another 8 yrs old. One video was not relevant to the search; it was about speeding up the download of games. The "best" video related to the search was 2 yrs old and had just 26 likes. This is typical of Kagi's youtube video results.
Kagi should prioritize newer videos, especially for topics that would update frequently, like technology questions. It should also consider (but not be driven by) up-votes for content. Generally, content with few likes is less quality, whereas better videos addressing search questions can be expected to have more likes -- but at least, certainly not very low numbers
If Kagi suggests videos for a search, they should be:
- Relevant to the topic
- Be of reasonable quality
- Be timely for subjects where timeliness is relevant (e.g. not 'history' etc)
