Translation of documentation

Hello,

Would it be possible to translate the documentens of the Kagi docs to someones native language? It would for sure help Kagi grow even more as not everyone may speak English.

Documentation in multiple languages will Kagi grow more. 🙂

I agree that document translation is necessary; however, Kagi's staff currently can't cover all languages. Currently, users who love the service (including myself) are voluntarily doing the translation work without compensation.

The search project (including Assistant) already contains 3,700+ strings. Adding documentation on top of that would be too burdensome for newcomers (especially if their language hasn't been translated by others yet).

Given Kagi's current scale, I suggest using Kagi Translate, perhaps by suggesting users use the tool or by providing fully machine-translated documentation.

Thank you for the response! I do understand that Kagi staff cannot get all languages as a translation in the documentation but I would love it to help translating it to my native language and I'm pretty sure other people who speak a other language beside English would do the same.

I'm not sure how documentation translation works. (i know that tools like localazy exist for ui's but docs are a different beast of course).

Technically Kagi could probably put Kagi Translate to work for this but having human oversight would still be ideal of course.
For UI translation I'm very glad we have human translators and def because it's quite specific in usage, it's great that it's done by humans.
For docs translation (this is my personal opinion, not of the team) is that having it be "here is the Kagi Translate version. Please correct if needed" might make more sense for the massive amounts of text like the docs are

Since it looks like the documentation is on Github you should be able to easily fork it, add a translation and add that so you can just add the language to the menu.

Oh yeah no, I know. We'd need a language selector and stuff as well.
Main thing is just: we should probably have an easy to use platform to do this (so people don't have to learn how to use github to contribute translations). But it would be a good first step

xJustxMegx Not yet cause there is no infrastructure for showing translations and such. I think they could use github though, def in a first iteration

This is a great idea ngl. We can definitely have some discussion on how best to go about doing this, but I agree docs should have a translation option.
