Customize default time frame for search

I'd like to be able to customize the default time frame for searches.

I love that I can specify a time frame for the past year or so when performing a search. Most of my internet searches are for topics that change rapidly, and results that are more than a year or two old are often out of date and less helpful. Restricting the time frame yields much higher quality search results for me. It would be really helpful to set the default to “past year” or “past <x> years”, and then override it on occasion as needed.

I see being able to customize the default search time frame under settings, and have that apply across all devices where I use Kagi. I also envision being able to override the default time frame as needed on a case by case basis (just as you can currently), including removing the time frame restriction.

Hey! You could achieve the desired behavior (limiting the scope to the past year) by either

using the !year bang to only show results from the past 365 days
Changing the URL your browser uses for search to https://kagi.com/search?token=###XYZ&q=%s&dr=4
- The token is only relevant if you wish to use Kagi in private browsing as well, see https://help.kagi.com/kagi/privacy/private-browser-sessions.html
- &dr=4 sets the time frame for the search to the past year

I find myself similarly often doing a search and then having to set the age to past year or even month. Great tips and will make use of them.

My initial instinct was that it would be good to have a setting for this but I suspect that many users would instinctively set it because they want the latest stuff and then start to find their results are not as good as the expect.

I often find that most topics I need to limit to the last few years for almost every search, but the last one year can be overly restrictive. Being able to set the default to say 3 years or 4 years would be extremely helpful since it's a surprising amount of interaction to set any limit greater than 1 year.
