drunkdotmoe It's かぎ or 鍵 (which means key in Japanese) so the gi should be pronounced /ɡʲ/. It actually is more clearly explained in one of the help/documentation pages (I'll update with a link when I find it.) If you want to hear a pronunciation you can check out this page.
Dustin There is a phonetic script which can be used to clarify. I believe for Kagi it would be as below:
kirkmc I have a master's degree in applied linguistics (albeit 30 years ago), and I don't know the phonetic script you show there. Phonetic scripts are useless for normies.
jogojapan I am not convinced the pronunciation even of "gif" is consistent. I'd describe it as the "g" in "golf", as opposed to the "g" in "general".
Esra Bit more effort but you can also use Kagi Translate to play an audio of the translation here: Potentially that's where we could embed the audio from, as would be another way to inform new users about Kagi Translate as a product 🙂
InternetChunk This is only an “issue” for native english speakers. Most other languages pronounce Kagi like “G - if” or the G in geese
