Quotes and verbatim search ignore prepositions

Attempted to determine if a blog post title had already been used or turned into a book by someone.

Searched for:

"tragedy for the commons"
"tragedy for the commons" -"tragedy of the commons"
(Verbatim ON) "tragedy for the commons" -"tragedy of the commons"
(Verbatim ON; Personalization: OFF) "tragedy for the commons" -"tragedy of the commons"

No combination seemed to remove the more common results of "tragedy of the commons", nor did any cause the literal search string to appear in the contents of any results.

I expected that a literal verbatim search would return either no results or a result containing the exact phrase searched.

Do you have an example of the search results? For me, the first two queries work to show only results containing (or not containing) the key terms.

It appears to be working now, I should have taken a screenshot when it wasn't working I'll make sure to do that next time.

The second image you posted is exactly what I'd want with the quoted phrase and the exclusion of the more common phrase.

A big reason I've switched to Kagi from Google is being able to mask more common phrases to find specific results like that (or exact results from library functions in error logs), so thank you!
