The search region dropdown does change results. But it doesn't change them to your region.
A "hack" is to search in your own language. But even that is getting less useful.
You could just remove it? That's probably better than the frustration of half assed results. This frustration is what I was so glad to finally be rid off when I found Kagi
But I think it may be better to fix the dropdown, or put a note that it's still expecting an English query and giving American results. Because in it's current state, the "search region" is more like a "search hint" in a set of us centric results.
I want my search engine to work for me. Not for some hypothetical person on the other side of the planet
