Hey, after I tried to create a shortcut for Dictionary lookups via Kagi Translate in a new browser, I noticed that in a browser where I'm not logged in (and where Kagi Translate has never been opened), I get the error "Failed to search dictionary. Please try again."
After some investigation, I noticed in the Network Devtools Tab that I receive the following error message:
{
error: "Not authenticated"
}
The steps to reproduce are as follows:
- Open a browser session in which Kagi Translate has never been visited. (e.g., a new profile, or an Incognito tab with the Kagi extension disabled)
- Open https://translate.kagi.com/dictionary?word=Example&from=en in the said browser session.
- Observe "Failed to search dictionary. Please try again."
Normally, once the page is opened, the dictionary entry should be displayed there.
A current fix is as follows:
- Select either the Translate or Proofread tool.
- Successfully complete the Cloudflare Turnstile task.
- Go back to https://translate.kagi.com/dictionary?word=Example&from=en
Based on these three steps, I strongly assume that this can be fixed by integrating Cloudflare Turnstile into the Dictionary. As someone who often creates new sessions, sends direct links to friends, or deletes their session data every few weeks, this can become annoying.
