How the hell is this slop site the top hit for a current event?

I searched for info on the Kirk shooter’s roommate and this garbage site was the top hit. How is that possible?

I was expecting a reputable site as the top hit.

These slop sites put a lot of effort into tricking search engines to put them at the top. It's annoying, and a non-stop fight for Kagi.

@Boomkop3 is correct here, slop really wants to be seen so they do a lot to show up. @moto I assume houseandwhips.com is the slop site? If so @nobodywasishere can add it to our blocklist.

Yes I understand how SEO works, but SEO is difficult and takes time! How did this site manage to capture this search term in a day? No one was searching for "Luna Twiggs" prior to the shooting to make it worth SEO'ing it, and the site doesn't look like an operation with a big SEO budget.

I suspect there's a bug in the Kagi ranking algo because it's worse than Google at ranking slop in the top spot, which defeats the purpose of paying for it.

moto I'm not an SEO expert but I'd imagine it's so successful here because no one was searching this term before. Scour the internet for news, generate slop sites based on the news, and if it's a new term there you go you're not one of the only/few sites with that term.
