Invoke Assistant with "??"

Today, the Quick Answer feature can be invoked by appending a single question mark to the end of a query, and that answer can be further explored by selecting the "Continue with Assistant" button. I recommend that Kagi enhance this experience by allowing the user to end a query with a set of two question marks, which would invoke the Assistant immediately.

The proposed feature would be functionally equivalent to using the "!assistant" bang - but, easier and more intuitive. For example:

The query "How many people have walked on the moon?" provides a Quick Answer.
The query "How many people have walked on the moon??" invokes the Assistant, which provides a more comprehensive answer.

it's def an interesting idea. Obv the question then becomes, which model should open when you do that.
Currently there are various bangs to go to the assistant https://kbe.smaertness.net/search?q=assistant including !ai and !chat (like !ai but with internet off). So you can also use these in the meantime.

Thibaultmol Isn't there a feature which already says "continue in assistant"? So, that question has already been answered. Of course a new debate can be had on whether that choice needs to be altered but for the moment, it's not a new problem and merely a shortcut to something already existing.

@Thibaultmol, in my opinion, the Assistant settings currently in force are respected when using the "??" query syntax, including the model specification and whether web access is enabled. (Thank you for considering this feature request.)

@madhatter, yes, the proposed syntax of "<query>??" to invoke the Assistant is not adding new functionality to Kagi, since it is equivalent to using the "!assistant" bang. However, I believe it is a "natural" extension of the existing syntax of "<query>?" to produce a Quick Answer, and helps to make the use of the product a bit more friction-free.

In brief, the proposed concept is that "<query>?" gives the user a Quick Answer, while "<query>??" delivers a more detailed answer from the Assistant.

Of course. I was only addressing the bit about "which model to invoke". I was saying that Kagi already "answers this" because when we get the Quick Answer, at the bottom is the option to continue exploring that same question with assistant and it already picks an assistant model for us and starts a thread. So, I was saying that the aspect of selecting an assistant model is not a new problem to solve here and the '??' suffix could just invoke what would have been selected in the case of the option at the bottom of the Quick Answer.

In a way, I'm advocating for this feature and also suggesting that it can be an "easy" first version.

madhatter I'd suggest letting the user pick a default. And for more granular control per individual query a !bang could be handy
