This may be more applicable to European countries, but one thing that I've only ever had with a student license on bing's map api: Being out late in the city and just hitting a button on our app: "Get me to the nearest train home".
Nowadays, I may not be out as often anymore, but a feature like this would still be very handy. When I want to go somewhere, I often find myself manually looking trough the map to find the little train 🚆icon. Often times, it is close by, and on a pc this is fine. But on mobile this search is quite a messy process and it would be nice to just click a button.
Where I live, over a million trips a day or done by train. In an area 236x smaller than the usa, of which almost 20% is water. Nearly 10% of the population travels by public transport every day.
Having less friction getting from wherever you are, to a bus stop or train station would increase mobility and decrease travel cost.
