@jeherve it states that API is in closed Beta.
This feature would be very useful, and would allow Kagi to sell API access to a new audience, as both Claude and OpenAI suck at figuring out what to search for - and also suck at actually searching.
I can imagine there would be non-programmers interested in it, but for me, it would be very useful to get the correct context into the IDE, similar to how Context7 works. Just as a reference, here is how Perplexity MCP server works in Cursor with Claude. (I have expanded the query to display Perplexity's responses, which agent uses internally as research material, before answering me)
Having the correct context, helps lessen hallucinations, and also lowers the needed effort for the agent. Because Perplexity knows how to craft its own queries, perform multiple searches and craft a response with references, this response gives my Cursor/Claude all the info it needs to do the implementation - or where to look next for additional details - instead of me having to research, and then copypaste and explain what i need - i get to make decisions, while Perplexity does the Web Search, and Claude does the reasoning/analysis.

Oh, forgot to mention - paid accounts get a basic-but-reasonable $5/mo allowance (its a lot), and you pay for the rest if you ever need to. I wish to see something similar in Kagi - give me a tiny bit of allowance, and just charge anything over that by usage.
