The Google app has a shortcut that takes you straight to the search bar with the cursor in place and keyboard opened. When I pair this with a custom launcher gesture action, I'm able swipe down on my home screen and start typing a search right away. While I can swap in the app for this action, I still have to tap on the search bar before I can start typing. Not a big deal, but it would be one of the main things for me to bring the app into parity with my current search experience.
This would give great parity with Google's search app, and make it much easier for users to switch without losing functionality.
