Wrong region for brand websites

I noticed that the last few weeks, although i have United Kingdom selected the results are always from the US.

For example if i search for a product Amazon US is always first, but if i search and add UK on the back then i get the correct result.

I expect that the dropdown sets the search results region properly.

This appears fixed for me this morning - “gov”, “post office”, “Apple”, “Amazon” all show the UK result first 🙂

callmewhenyouneedme Mostly agreed. The egregiously wrong results are gone, but the below (from first and second pages of search results) still pop up for me. These are of limited relevance in the UK context. Search link is here.

Luis Still a few abnormal results, see below. Plenty of these seem more like slop than the result of poor regionalisation though. The EU results are slightly relevant as even though my search filter is GB/UK I am currently in Germany.

I've been having extensive issues with this that I didn't notice before. For example, when searching for returns at an international retailer, it would return the US result and not the UK result, unless I entered "X company returns UK".

This is quite frustrating and frankly a basic feature in my eyes. Why even have regional search if it doesn't work for this simple use case?

Another example below. The North American Megabus site is ranked first, and the North American Megabus wiki page is depicted too.

This happens to plenty of Finnish searches as well. OS language is set in Finnish, search configuration in Finnish preference. In many local language searches, websites are offered in English (hostname.fi/en or en.hostname.fi) subsites/-views, and sometimes also Estonian (.ee) language sites are prioritized in the search results.

I’m on the UK region, so I should see the UK link (https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/tuta.com). Instead, it shows the UK Trustpilot with tutanota.de, an old domain of theirs. Then, it shows Tuta.com on nz.trustpilot.com, which makes no sense. I’m browsing from the UK, and my region is UK, so I expect the UK results to be prioritised. I’m not sure why trustburn.com is higher ranked than trustpilot on the results list either. I asked for Trustpilot within the search query.

Hi everyone, we believe the recent issue affecting UK results has now been resolved.
Using the examples in this thread: "Nintendo," "Megabus," or clicking on the xx results provide the expected .uk domains. We believe this regression is fixed.

Could you please confirm if you are still experiencing any problems? We want to ensure everything is back to normal for all users.

Luis Yep this has been fixed, at least for my issue.

Luis I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I'm in the UK. If I search for Nintendo, it's still the US site that comes up. If I search for Amazon, it's Amazon.com that is at the top.

Luis Same issue as @kirkmc for me. For the "megabus" search, for example, the US/Canada result still comes out on top (although the wiki widget is correct — but when I tried this search earlier today the widget was the wrong North American one).

I've noticed the current "international" region is mostly united-states focussed. When searching explicitly Dutch things I often get english translations of them instead
