Wrong region for brand websites

Happens to me too, also in the UK. It's annoying, because sometimes I go to a website then I have to find where to change the region or country.

If you often run into this issue on a single site you use, URL Rewrites might be your friend 🙂
I'll see if there's any way we might be able to detect such regions but this seems like a very complex parsing issue...

Until last week I only saw US results when they made sense.

A simple issue. My search is set to the UK but many of the results, including the first, relate to voting in the US.

Interestingly, the first time I noticed this the top-ranked result related to voting in California, not Texas.

Agree with this one. The internet being by default all too US-centric is annoying at the best of times, I especially don't want that to trickle down to my search results that are supposed to be based in another region.

Searched for Shien with the region selected as UK and expected the UK version of the site but the US version was instead the top result as shown in screenshot

Expected UK version of site to be first result, this is correctly surfaced when searching through google as shown in screenshot.

I'm based in England and I think there's a misrepresentation of regionality in the search filter for United Kingdom.
The search says GB (Great Britain) and as a result is missing out returning UK (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) prioritised results.

For example, if you search for "Apple" with United Kingdom (GB) as the region filter, it will return www.apple.com as the top result.

If I search with !r: uk appended, it will give me back Apple's UK page as top hit and other UK based results.

I think that the region filter for United Kingdom could prioritise UK as a locale and GB as a secondary locale.
Strictly Great Britain is within the United Kingdom, so I think that makes more sense.
