Who doesn’t like more security and privacy for the products they use?
One important aspect of an upcoming Kagi trinity ecosystem (browser, search, mail) is security and account compromise risks. Like with any ecosystem there is a worry that using one password for all the products in one ecosystem (even with 2FA authentication enabled) could spell disaster for all data associated with the account if the password is obtained by a third party. That is why I’d like to propose an option to be able to create and use a different password for upcoming KagiMail (possibly for other services too but Mail is the most important and at risk).
I imagine an option in settings in a given product (in this example mail) to be able to create a completely different, separate password for KagiMail which would in turn enhance security of the user’s account (thus nullifying the “all eggs in one basket” security risk fear). Of course I wouldn’t want it to be forced so it would be completely optional.
Perhaps if you lost this product-specific password you could still get access to said product by using your main Kagi account password allowing you to reset and change the product specific password.
I believe this could greatly reduce worries of users who don’t want to join a new ecosystem out of account compromise risks.
