Safari Extension Redirecting all Google links, including bangs

I'm 99% sure bangs to default search engines like Google used to work in Safari but now if I try to do "search query !g" it just redirects back to Kagi. This effectively means that I literally cannot search Google with the Kagi extension anymore, even if I go to a google url manually. I have to go to another browser to do that.
This hasn't always been the case and I'm pretty sure the Safari extension used to only redirect when searching from the Safari search bar.

Allow me to go to Google when manually going to the URL or from Kagi bangs

Make sure in the extension settings you have the "Engine to redirect" set to a search engine you don't want to use. Kagi Search takes the place of one of these search engines
