Remove Grok from Kagi Assistant

Well lets bury it. I'd be happy to keep it on arguments focusing on AI quality instead. And all I read here against it very some prompts that lead to answerers considered inappropriate, that never could be reproduced with Kagi? For sure that's no reason to remove it. Or is it?

And yes I've seen Grok give some wild responses tasked with image recognition. But its not like other AI's never give wild responses. Perhaps they don't give responses in certain direction because they are trained differently or perhaps those topics are hard blocked away in their coding? Who knows?

JdH I do not care about quality of the model. I care that a person who actively supports and helps to implement fascism owns it. I do not feel safe with a search provider that collaborates with overt fascists since at some point there will be a degree of dependency and fascists will have the leverage.

And when I say fascists, I explicitly mean people Umberto Eco describes in Ur-Fascism, not throwing it around as a random meaningless insult, but as a well understood political ideology that killed and/or enslaved millions.

Just chiming in to look up this very topic; I was interested in getting Kagi until I saw it used Grok.

It's quite simple, the fascist bigot genocidal fiend's technology should be ousted from public use; no matter how "good the product or service is". Let it die.

Fully uninterested in using Kagi until it takes a stance. Personally I'm hoping to distance myself from as much as possible - and though many of these AI choices are problematic, even Grok as an option is not worth even being associated with.

I certainly wouldn't tell people to go check it out if I knew they'd hover over "AI models we use: the one under control of [insert Elon's long list of horrendous, detailed, tracked, disgusting statements(not to mention the social security thing - this doesn't align with anti-surveillance)]".

There's some what-about-ism going on in here. Microsoft, Google, DeepSeek. They're all problematic now or at various points in their history. And the individuals that run them should be held accountable, too. Both are possible and should happen. Musk's an easy target because X is now the nazi platform filled with bots, his cars are falling apart, and he's an heir to an ethically dubious South African emerald mine. Too many known problems. So why bother supporting the guy?

You could lump Altman and Zuckerberg in there, too. Or any billionaire/significantly-wealthy-person-without-ethics, really.

I dunno. This thread is focused on Grok and Musk. Every problem doesn't have to be solved all at once. That said, I'd like to apply the same ethical standard to every model/company/person. In theory, sure. But we can also focus on the guy who's publicly working to undermine democracy because he's a petty butthole.

If you don’t like it, don’t use it. Why remove it when some people do want to use it?

Grok/X.AI charges for API queries, so if you’re not using it as a user using Kagi Assistant, Grok/X.AI won’t make money.

Because there's no down vote, I'll just comment instead. Obviously this is the wrong thing to do and is purely politically motivated. Removing Grok doesn't improve the service, it takes away choice.

Anyone can already just choose not to use Grok if they don't want it. Removing the option is no different to removing search indexes for political reasons. Next will someone suggest blocking all results from X because Musk owns it?
