In the future, the way we are planning on tackling this is by standing up a simple "lightweight" verion of Kagi that we can send users too while we work on the main service behind the curtains. This would be used for both planned & unplanned scenarios (like the massive DDoS we faced the other week)
This way, everything keeps working - albeit in a much stripped down fashion - but you can still do searches, bangs, and a few other key features. So needless to say, it should be much better than a "retry" button 😃
Secondly, the status page is a hosted service that we pay for from Instatus. As such we can't really make significant modifications to it anyway, since we don't own/control it.
So, with all that said, I'll mark this as "nofix", but it's something that we're definitely working on improving for next time.
