Hello Kagi Team,
Thank you for the insightful blog post, "First Three Years." It's great to see a transparent overview of your journey. (https://blog.kagi.com/first-three-years)
I'm writing to offer a small correction to a point made in the post. In the section discussing the competitive landscape, the post states: “In fact, there are only 5 companies in the entire world that offer a full-stack search, browser, and email product as part of their offering, forming an ecosystem for accessing the web.”
The list includes Baidu, with "Baidu Search, Baidu Browser, Baidu Mail." Based on my knowledge, this may not be entirely accurate. (https://www.baidu.com/more/)
- Baidu Browser: The PC version of Baidu Browser was discontinued in 2019. While Baidu has a mobile app, it is not a standalone browser in the same vein as Chrome or Edge.
- Baidu Mail: Baidu does not appear to offer a public email service.
I would like to suggest a more fitting example for your list: Tencent. Tencent's ecosystem includes:
- Search: Sogou Search (which Tencent has a controlling stake in)
- Browser: Sogou Browser and Tencent's own QQ Browser
- Email: QQ Mail
Additionally, Kakao in South Korea could also be a candidate with its suite of services.
I am raising this point because I believe in the importance of accuracy and hope this feedback is helpful. I am posting this here as I was unsure of the best place to provide this type of feedback.
Thank you for your consideration and for the great work you are doing with Kagi.
