I tried to translate "micette" from Italian to English UK via translate.kagi.com in Firefox. It mistranslated it initially to "kitten". It ought to say "kittens" instead.
Then, I selected the option to get "Best" translation and it was stuck saying "Translating" for quite a while (felt like a couple of minutes or more).
Eventually I see this at the bottom of the page: "An error occurred during translation (SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data)"
This is the URL: https://translate.kagi.com/?from=it&to=en_gb&text=micette%0A%0A%0A&quality=best
I refreshed the page in the browser and it gave me the same error again after a couple of minutes or so.
Four things:
- Initial (Standard level) translation should give the correct meaning for a simple and not uncommon word
- That failing, best translation should give us the correct translation
- And it should definitely not take more than a handful of seconds (which too seems excessive) for translating a single word
- And this kind of a use-case (single word) should "just work" and not timeout or fail in any other manner
EDIT: My apologies: I just noticed that there is a separate thread for "Kagi Translate Feedback" and I should have posted it there instead.
