Option to set location manually not available

Option to set geolocation manually is not presented when clicking the geolocation button in maps

Steps to reproduce:

turn off location services in MacOS
Open Orion or Orion RC
Navigate to Kagi maps
Click the geolocation button
Select always allow for this site when prompted to allow Kagi to have access to your location (should not reach this step)

Result: geolocation icon spins and nothing further happens

I expect to see the menu to pop up as is shown in the documentation and be able to select to set my location manually so that I do not need to enable location services in MacOS

Hey! I tried reproducing your issue:

Disable Location Services
Go to https://kagi.com/maps on Orion
Click the Geolocation button
I get the prompt as expected

Could you check the following settings:
Settings -> Websites -> Location

Is there anything unusual there, e.g. kagi.com being blocked from accessing your location?

Are you able to reproduce this issue on a fresh Orion profile (File -> Profiles -> New Profile...)?

hi laiz I do get that prompt. What I would expect, though is to get the prompt you see at the bottom of my post (the one with the option "Set My Location Manually").

According to the documentation that should come up before the permission request for location.

I did completely reset Orion through the browser option, and the issue persisted

As for the settings that I have, I do show Allow once I click allow as would be expected

The idea would be for Kagi to not need location permission and instead use the manual location I entered

Thank you for your patience, I read your initial post slightly too hastily. Indeed, I am also unable to find a way to manually set my location, suggesting that we are either dealing with outdated documentation or a missing feature. I have pinged the team about this.

laiz Thanks for confirming it's not just an issue for me 🙂 Documentation can be hard to maintain on such a fast-moving project, so it could definitely just be a file that didn't get updated, but you never know, so figured I'd check

Same problem - geolocation button sends me to the wrong location, just like in other programs outside of Kagi. Unfortunately I can't use Orion, because my desktop computer uses Windows 11 and my phone is Android. Waiting for those versions, would switch to Orion in a heartbeat if they were available. Sadly, this issue has persisted for months now with every browser I use. My location is somehow set on a location in the Bronx where I've never been, after being correct in all browsers and mapping software for years and years... have tried dozens of fixes, nothing can change the default location. Would hope Kagi could overcome that, but so far same results as in Windows / Google / Firefox etc... no way to fix.
