Android app: Assistant hard to find since new update

The new Android update looks nice, but it removed the ability to use Assistant, which was my main use case for the app. It would be nice to have a button for assistant at the bottom or have the ability to configure that to be more custom.

I expected an Assistant button and/or the ability to have the app always default to Assistant.

The link to the assistant was removed but will be likely be added back in.

Currently the way to get to the assistant is my long pressing the app icon and then clicking on the assistant.
You can also drag out that assistant abs shortcut to be its own app icon

That's an interesting development. Fortunately, I saw this before the app got updated and I could disable auto-update for the moment. I hope they do add it back in a simple way again.

I noticed that the android app got a redesign of sorts, unfortunately the assistant button was forgotten and left on the old page. See recording for video of me opening the search via widget and having to back-swipe to access the old version to get the assistant button.

The assistant button should be right where the other links are right above the keyboard.

When I use the Kagi Android Widget search bar I see a UI with no mention of settings or the assistant:

When I long press on the app and open the assistant from there, the swipe back, I see the older UI (I think?) with both settings and assistant available.

I'd expect being able to navigate to the assistant or the settings from the search UI (or have a prominent way to go to settings from somewhere 🙂
