I appreciate the ability to use region-specific results. However, as a Canadian, I am often searching for things in both English and French (and moving between English and French queries based on the research question at issue). As a result, I constantly have to toggle between the two regions in Kagi (Canada - EN and Canada - FR), because a French query on Canada - EN will often show no results. It is usually simpler to type the dreaded !g whenever I want French content.
I think there is a simple fix: is it possible to add a Region option that includes Canadian content in both English and French? (styled as Canada - EN and FR). This would not take much time, but your Canadian users (especially those from Québec) would thank you!
As noted above, this would primarily be for francophone or bilingual Canadian users. However, it is possible that this would be an issue for other Regions that mix between multiple languages (such as the country's official language and English).
- Other search engines, such as DuckDuckGo, have the same regional options (Canada - EN and Canada - FR). However, typing in a French query does provide French results there.
- Google sets the region as Canada, but again, it will show bilingual results especially with French queries.
- In Kagi, it seems that the two Canadian Regions are watertight compartments, with only English results in Canada - EN and only French in Canada - FR.
