If I search for 1-2 word inputs, Kagi Translate takes several seconds to respond.
For example, when translating Dutch to English, this input:
takes approximately 6 seconds to translate.
In contrast, the same phrase in a slightly longer context:
Mijn auto is zeer langzaam
comes back in a little over half a second.
(Notice that the word-insights still take a couple of additional seconds to complete, however.)
Glancing at the Network panel in the browser's developer tools, I wonder whether the call to the /detect endpoint has greater difficulty with shorter inputs and is blocking further progress. If that's the case, it may be worth trusting the input language dropdown value initially rather than waiting on /detect each time.
Translating a short phrase should take the same amount of time as translating a marginally longer phrase. For comparison, I get a response from Google Translate immediately for both sample inputs.
