Add Flight and Hotel Search with Map Exploration and Price Tracking

One area where I believe Kagi could expand its offerings is by adding dedicated flight and hotel search features, similar to Google Flights and Hotels. They allow users to explore destinations on maps, filter deals, and track price changes with notifications. I think Kagi could implement something equally powerful while remaining the users privacy.

To achieve this, Kagi can leverage established travel APIs for real-time flight and hotel data.

Proposed Features:

Map-based destination exploration for flights and hotels.
Filters for deals (e.g., price, amenities, airlines).
Price tracking with notifications for drops.
AI-driven travel recommendations

Flight APIs:

Skyscanner Flight API: Supports flexible searches and carbon footprint sorting.
Expedia Flight API: Integrates with extensive airline and OTA networks.
Amadeus Flight API: Covers data from over 300 airlines.
SITA APIs: Provides real-time flight status and schedules.
FlightAPI.io: Offers real-time flight price tracking and airport schedules

Agreed, should be implemented. One way Kagi could set itself apart from other search engines is to add other transport APIs. Rail would be amazing. Realtime Trains in the UK offers an API. Save A Train has good international options. Obviously comes at a cost but would have massive utility for me — would also be a truly unique future.

Agreed this varies significantly regional though.

Kagi can offer various transport options with direct booking links.

These could include scooters, bike, taxi (local and third party as Uber), rental services (bike and car), bus (local and long-distance coach), train and flight.

Xytronix I would prefer not to have this level of integration. I feel that this strays into slightly dangerous territory where some services are preferentially shown over others — how would Kagi choose to suggest certain services; what if certain services don't have an API; etc.

I think it's best to stick with the displaying of more objective information: e.g. flight and rail journey data.

I like this idea very much. But note: This is a very competitive sector, and also extremely complicated business.

What do you imagine the real world use case would be for Kagi to use the Hotel APIs, for example? Trip planner tool with specific dates?
