Hello Everyone,
In long conversations with the assistant, at times, it becomes hard to "go back to that particular message I typed a few minutes ago" or "that short snipped that was emitted by the AI a short while ago" because the text from both sides of the conversation looks the same. I've faced this numerous times and while this is a small annoyance, it is constantly present.
So, I'm trying to sell the idea that we must have something that makes the messages from both sides appear visually distinct. The conversation has a "shape" and we can quickly scroll to some bit or the other from the "shape" of it. By "shape" I just mean the sub-conscious recognition we have of the way the conversation went - i.e, something like: "oh it was that large three paragraph block of AI text between two single-line blocks of my own text" which can be quickly spotted without reading a single word.
At present this is not possible as everything is just one large block and one has to read/"parse" the initial bits of the paragraphs/blocks to find what one is looking for. So, it demands more attention and thus impedes flow.
If we could have a subtle change in background or some other way of marking which message was sent by me and which one by the assistant, it would easier to just scroll and quickly identify the specific message I had in mind. I'll freely admit I am nowhere close to being a designer. So, I suppose someone in that line of work would be better equipped to come up with an elegant solution.
I suppose a step further would be the user being able to customise the CSS. Nevertheless, I'd be satisfied just to be able to have anything that helps me to quickly find some part of the conversation that requires a bit of scrolling to see it.
