LaTeX Inline Math not rendering

For example. It has been bugging me for a few weeks now. Seems rather inconsistent. I have seen properly typeset math as well. Seems to be restricted to inline math?

Properly rendered inline math equations expected.

I can't seem to reproduce this. I notice you're using a custom assistant. What are the instructions you provide it?

Rehan Just using Gemini 2.0 Flash with this custom assistant. No further instructions.

I just retried the query with Claude 3.7 and it seemed to have rendered just fine, perhaps a Gemini specific issue.

All I did was ask for an explanation of the terms in the Smagorinsky equation provided in the link.

Claude can render it just fine, not Gemini.

Ah yea, it seems 2.0 flash gets real weird with its LaTeX output.

Just as an update this seems to be fixed in Gemini 2.5 Flash from our internal testing, which will be releasing soon.
