Index PDFs that are included in custom lens URLs
What does your feature entail?
- A custom lens is created that points to PDF-terminated URLs
- Check to see if the PDF is already in the index
- If the PDF is already in the index, continue
- If the PDF is NOT in the index, index the PDF immediately
- Make the PDF searchable via the Kagi index
What is it for?
Since Uploading files for custom Assistants is still under review, this would be a workaround that would enable a user to have a lens as a virtual "RAG document container" and still get the benefits of using the Assistant but with additional context persistence.
How will it affect existing workflows or user experience?
It will affect the existing user experience by making the target documents of the lens searchable immediately instead of non-deterministically (meaning I have NO IDEA when my PDFs will be indexed). By extension, if the lens is used as part of an AI custom assistant, then the indexed documents will immediately be available for AI usage (think of this as a pre-loaded summarizer).
What are the exact ways that you see a user using your proposed feature? Please go into as much detail as possible, and provide examples of how other browsers/apps implement this feature, if applicable. If your feature suggestion adds on to an existing feature, how would it work into it to extend its usefulness?
The way I envision this being used is that it can serve as a kind of workaround to the lack of "RAG context workspace" for the Assistant.
I also imagine it being used to inject certain pages or documents into the Kagi index.
