Is Kagi still a 'search company' or is it an AI company?

The quality of the search related parts of Kagi has been lackluster lately to say the least, meanwhile ventures like AI assistant, Translate and now even mail (?) have received a larger part of attention and resources.

If that's the way Kagi wants to go, well, for me it's unfortunate, because it's not what I signed up (and pay up) for, but I understand and wish you lots of luck and success, but I will be cancelling my subscription.

johen I have not noticed any decline in search quality or speed. Quite the opposite.

Personally haven't noticed a decline, but I find that the main use of Kagi, Search, is definitely the glitchiest product. As soon as you start playing with operators in the queries or the filters, it gets very inconsistent.

I was first attracted to Kagi for the domain blocking/priority feature, but I can't stop using Google until I can actually trust that Kagi interprets the queries properly. I hope also hope they put more resources in the search algorithm.

Kagi is an internet company. Our search experience is constantly improving, if you have search quality issues please report them with steps to reproduce.

Vlad There have been several reports lately about issues about search that get no response. What about the search widgets? Inconsistent behavior with the integrations? search tags that don't work?

I tend to describe this to people like:
Kagi is a search company with ai features.
While the chatgpt's of the world are AI companies that slap search on their products.
Their search is objectively worse and that's how you Google recommending you to eat glue.
Kagi has a solid search product, they don't have that.

Can Kagi search be improved? obv, but it's still one of the main reasons I use Kagi

Okay I'll bite: for those of you saying you're going to cancel, what search are you going to use that is better than Kagi?

To me it is. There is no reason why I would use Kagi if it wasn't the best search engine or information engine. If a better option appears, I will switch, no matter how much I like Kagi. I think the price is an incredible bargain for getting the best solution for such an important task. It saves me so much money and time.

If any of those services offer better results than Kagi for a better price, then there's no reason to use Kagi.

Kagi has a great advantage over all other Google alternatives, in that it offers good search results in other languages than English. That's billions of people as potential customers.

Also, I may have not phrased my OP correctly: I don't think the quality of search has declined on Kagi. I just think that I pay U$10 per month for a service (search) that I don't see getting the improvements that other areas of the site are getting. Like I said in the OP, I'm not angry or anything, if that's the way Kagi wants to go, I wish you lots of success, but it's definitely not what I signed up for.
I just wanted to give this feedback that search is being left behind. If you think it's not worth investing in it anymore, that's fine!

As long as you are paying $10 per month, I don't think you will ever have peace of mind, no matter what Kagi does with their product. That's what's gnawing at you, because maybe you're used to – like so many people – that everything on the computer has to be free. Cancel for a month or two and see if it eases your mind, then you can come back if you miss it.
