Assistant only performs web search once

Hello,

I have noticed that the assistant only performs web search once at the first message of the thread, and it will not do any additional searches even when I explicitly ask it to look for more information or ask about a different detail on same subject. It just keeps repeating that the information I am asking is not present in the documents it have.

The multiple searches feature was very useful for me especially for comparing different items (like books, programming languages, or frameworks), now I need to start a new thread for each search I want to make, and having that meaningful comparison that It was able to do before is no longer an option.

Can we please have the multiple searches option back?

I expected the assistant to be able to make multiple web searches as needed (or as asked).

I just tested this. I first asked the weather in Toronto, and it did a search. Then I asked it "And tomorrow", and it did another search.

Could you give an example of where it doesn't do a search followup?

For the record, I'm using the ChatGPT 4o model. I'm assuming that it's the model that determines whether or not a search is needed. Could you try with another model and see if you face the same problem?

For the first book it did a research and got 10 resources sited. For the other books it provided a similar list, but

It is not on same level of detail for other books
Does not provide any sources, which seems to me that it got them from its knowledge and not from searching

@AmrSaber I'm sorry for the late follow up on this. Are you still able to reproduce that behaviour? I can't.
