We have a Kagi family plan with me, my wife, and our two kids. My wife and I both have Ultimate plans and we love Assistant. My kids are old enough to want to begin using AI tools. I thought rather than pay for ChatGPT or TypingMind, I'd just upgrade one kid by hitting the toggle from Professional to Ultimate (see attached image). That worked, and I was charged, but she didn't have links to Assistant in the usual places. We could access Assistant with the direct url, but we could not access the Assistant settings (it only allowed her to see the kid version of Kagi Search settings). That means we couldn't change the chat thread duration, or add custom instructions or a custom assistant. I reached out to support and learned that Assistant isn't actually supported for Kid accounts. I suggested I toggle it off and add a post on Kagi feedback, and it was agreed that was the right strategy (and support generously refunded the upgrade cost).
You guys should let us do this. I appreciate that chat opens a big universe for kids, but I should have the option to enable these things, particularly when they're 15 and 13. Alternatively, there should be an elegant path to convert a kid account to an adult account without losing history/settings (that should probably be developed anyway). At the very least, the toggle below in the Family Members settings tab should come with a warning that the upgrade might not work right.
