My muscle memory is used to arrows being used to scroll the page, and tab being used to select results.
I often find myself halfway scrolled down results, move to the keyboard, hit the down arrow, and get scrolled back to the top as it selects the first results.
Implemented just as a checkbox in Appearance settings somewhere would be perfectly fine.
