Kagi Assistant — attached files don't remain attached in edited queries

When editing an Assistant query with an attached file, the file doesn't remain attached in the edited query. See the below screen recordings. Interestingly, it seems that 4o hallucinated in its second response, and R1 hallucinated in both responses. The document is a blank PDF for reference. To note: I haven't tested this on mobile.

Desired functionality is pretty clear — the file (or files) should remain attached.

IIRC this has been brought up before and is an issue with the current backend. Believe it’s due to be upgraded and fixed along with the rest of the Assistant improvements incoming.

Hey there,

Here is the scenario. I upload a picture and ask something to the Assistant. That is great. Then I chose another model, edit the question that has the attachment, to now get a different response from the different LLM. But after hitting "enter" to send it, the attachment dissapears and the usual response is something like:

"It seems you forgot to include the resource you were asking about. Please include it and try again"

Basically, the original attachment doesn't persist across different edits of the prompt having it attached.

Could you please look into it? Thanks.

1) Start a new conversation

2) Add an attachment

3) Send a message, wait for response

4) Edit the original message, send.

The conversation loses the attachment. The model can no longer see it.

I expected editing a prompt to not unexpectedly lose data.

This is especially important since I sometimes paste images from my clipboard, stuff that's not easy to go find & copy again if I have to resubmit it.

This is a common use case for me and I would greatly appreciate it if we were able to re-submit attachments with thread edits. My current work-around is to start a new thread with the same attachments and new prompt, but I cringe a little each time when I think about how many duplicate files I'm making in your S3 bucket.

I uploaded an image to Kagi Assistant, then submitted a text prompt. The Assistant processed the image correctly. I then edited the prompt. The image appeared to still be there, but disappeared when I selected the paper airplane to submit, and the Assistant did not process the image.

Editing a prompt should keep the image, and submit it again.
