When you open the Maps UI, there’s a close button in the top right-hand corner of the screen at all times, which can be very confusing. Typically, a close button is used when the current view is a layer or modal on top of a previous screen.
This makes some sense when maps is opened from the main search results, although I would argue it’s not necessary at all – this is the browser back button’s job.
Best solution is to remove it completely and leverage the browser’s back button/history like other search engines.
Minimum would be to remove it when the Maps URL is accessed directly.
