Kagi extension not working on safari mobile

Despite following instructions, I was unable to get Kagi to work correctly using the latest iOS release and iPhone 16 pro max. The toggle button is greyed out (it is on however) and my searches still go to DuckDuckGo. The tutorial seems out of date to the current version of Safari.

I expected my searches to be redirected to Kagi.

To clarify a bit: when I tap Kagi for safari in the address bar, it doesn’t result in going to settings or allow me to make changes to private browsing. Therefore, I’m unable to redirect searches or find a way to do that.
