FEATURE TYPE: UI improvements for lenses on kagi.com search page
INTENDED OUTCOME: Make clearer to users the presence of lenses and simplify their use
ISSUE 1: On the kagi.com search page, lenses apply to the 'Web' option only and yet, confusingly, the interface allows one to select a lens and an option other than 'Web' (doing so generates search results without any lens filtering applied and the lens selection disabled).
SUGGESTION TO ADDRESS ISSUE 1: As lenses apply to the 'Web' option only, the lens options should appear in the secondary menu upon clicking 'Web'. For example, in the attached image, 'Movie Reviews' appears as a selected lens in the 'Web’ secondary menu. If lenses were ever to apply to any other primary menu item (Images, Videos, News etc), the lens options would appear in that selected item’s secondary menu. Note: Consideration might be given to placing a 'lens' icon to left of lens pop-up.

ISSUE 2: On the kagi.com search page, lenses are not clearly denoted. Only through trial and error (or perusal of manual) does one recognize/understand the lens interface element on the page. Further, interaction with lens interface requires both a pop-up selection and/or setting an 'enable' switch—at odds with every other interface type on the page.
SUGGESTION TO ADDRESS ISSUE 2: Rather than an 'enable/disable' switch for lenses, leave lenses enabled with a default selection 'No Lens Applied' or 'No Lens Selected'. This makes clear what the menu item is (Lens) and simplifies the Search Page interface as only one type of button (hypertext) is employed throughout.

Functionality of kagi.com search page remains intact. User interaction would only change through very slight UI changes documented above in text and image.
